Scientific studies actually suggest that the type of dog breed you choose can tell a lot about your personality…
English Bulldogs: The Bulldog is known to be a determined and persistent breed. Generally, people who own English Bulldogs are said to be giggly and stubborn at times, but extremely efficient at completing tasks. Despite their intimidating appearance, Bulldogs are one of the most lovable and affectionate types of breeds. They are also great with babies.
Terriers: Owners of Terriers tend to be very family oriented with a carefree kind of attitude. The breed itself is very energetic. Terrier owners tend to extremely talkative and have a really great sense of humor.
Pugs: People who live with Chinese Pugs are cheerful just like their doggy counterpart. Pugs will do almost anything for a good rubdown and their owners tend to receive frequent massages and trips to the spa.
Great Danes: Also known as “The Gentle Giant,” Great Danes tend to enjoy relaxing around the house. They’re a lounging type of breed. Their owners tend to work hard and enjoy watching current events.
Pit Bulls: As a breed, Pit Bulls have a never ending quest to please their owners. Pit Bull owners are courageous and have a strong sense of loyalty.
Labs & Golden Retrievers: As the most popular breed in the United States, it is no surprise that labs, and retrievers, are good natured. People who own these breeds tend to be extremely social and very honest. Both breeds and their owners are known to be very athletic, loving the outdoors.
The Internet has really helped catapult the pet industry into a full fledged money-making business.
Brands are now making a conscious effort to engage their customers on social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Some companies have even created phone apps offering customers exclusive information about their products, discounts and even games.
Below is a short list of ways that the pet industry has gone digital…
1. Subscription Services: Customers can now sign up to receive emails from companies like Central Bark Doggy Day Care. These newsletters let customers know about upcoming promotions, dog training classes and more.
2. Social Networking: Companies like Central Bark are engaging their customers daily on their official Central Bark USA Facebook fan page using status updates and polls. It doesn’t stop there, either. Companies like Central Bark are taking advantage of Twitter and even LinkedIn.
3. High Tech Pet Care: It is a rarity now to walk into a veterinary office and not see at least one computer. Paper charts are something of the past and even X-ray machines have gone digital. Some dog day care centers have even gotten in on the digital action by placing webcams in their locations so owners can check in on their pups.
4. There’s An App For Everything: Developers have created a whole category of applications for pet owners. Apps include services like tracking down the nearest dog park to finding dog-friendly restaurants.
What’s good for you may also be good for your dog. At least, that’s what some dog owners who believe in eating fresh, organic and natural foods are saying.
In the past few years, many companies have started offering what are deemed as healthier alternatives to commercial dog foods.
These businesses are often started as sidelines by dog-lovers and owners who say that not all dog food brands are as healthy as they seem. These same people claim that commercial pet food is often heavy on “fillers” that contain grains that dogs do not naturally eat.
Many enterprising companies are offering products that contain real, whole human-grade ingredients and foods. Essentially, the idea is that pet owners won’t feed their dogs anything that they wouldn’t consume themselves.

“Despite tough economic conditions, furry friends continue to be a large part of many budgets.” Market research firm Packaged Facts said that Americans spend $55 billion on their pets in 2010, while CouponCabin’s survey found that more than one-in-five dog owners spend an average of $100 or more per month on their dogs.

It’s been said before that doggy day care is a luxury, but taking your pup to a doggy day care facility like Central Bark Doggy Day Care during the day might be more of a safety precaution than anything.
Overall spending in the pet industry has risen steadily over the past few years, even as the United States faces a struggling economy. ”Now the tough economy is giving owners extra reason to watch their pooch’s back — because there has been a rise in dogs being stolen or kidnapped.”
USA Today reported that the number of dogs that have been snatched from unsuspecting owners has risen since the recession hit. During the first seven months of 2011 the American Kennel Club reported that 224 dogs had been stolen, copared with 150 during the same period in 2010; a 49% rise.
According to Lisa Peterson, an AKC spokeswoman, the motivation for these dognappings is money since stolen pups are often resold over the Internet. The dognapper may also see if the owner posts a reward for the found dog.
To keep your dog safe, vigilance is the key. Do not leave your pooch unattended outside in an opened area that you cannot see and it is definitely a good idea to put your pup in a doggy day care facility if you’re gone for most of the day.
